Fathom Favorites : Aspen Hotels

1. The Westin Snowmass Resort

The Westin Snowmass Resort

A big and family-friendly hotel in the heart of Snowmass Village, with easy mountain access and a lively restaurant and bar scene. The hotel's focus is on healthy living, and the resort offers amenities like workout clothes and shoes (available on demand) and a special SuperFoods menu.

2. Viceroy Snowmass

Viceroy Snowmass

With its slopeside location, state-of-the-art spa (we suggest the 60-minute Path to Tranquility massage), and varied dining options, it makes for a relaxing getaway — particularly with kids in tow. The lower level ski shop makes rentals, lift tickets, and ski instructor meet-ups (all pre-arranged through a concierge) a breeze. All 173 spacious rooms are furnished in dark woods, with pullout sofas, lovely throws, gourmet kitchenettes, and, best of all, washer-dryers.

3. The St. Regis Aspen Resort

The St. Regis Aspen Resort

The swankest hotel in town, at the base of Aspen mountain, with an especially lovely lobby worth visiting whether or not you're staying. A recent $40 million renovation was inspired by original owner John Jacob Astor and the Gilded Age, as evidenced in homey, in-room touches like fur throws, leather deskside storage satchels, and framed dog portraits. Remède Spa offers opulent pampering in a spacious facility and The Chef’s Club by Food & Wine features seasonal menus from a visiting chefs from the magazine’s Best New Chefs.

4. Mountain Chalet

Low budget and adorable in an alpine way, with a terrific location in front of the St. Regis. The Chalet is old-shool Aspen, and it’s the opposite of fancy. But if location and price are priorities and in-room amenities are not, this is the place to stay.

5. The Little Nell

The Little Nell

The best address in town at the foot of the Aspen Gondola, which makes for immediate ski-in, ski-out (or hike-in, hike-out) mountain access. The vibe is comfortable and rich, but never fussy, and the rooms recently underwent an extensive refurbishment. The Little Nell is known for exceptional service, from the attentive ski concierges to the sommeliers at Element 47. Don’t miss the apres-ski scene at their other excellent restaurant, Ajax Tavern, which always draws a great crowd.

6. The Limelight Hotel

The Limelight Hotel

Bright and fun, the sister hotel to The Little Nell has a younger, more laid-back vibe and is known for its green initiatives and pet-friendliness. The lounge is social and often hosts live music. Upstairs, the rooms are spacious, with simple and modern design. Many mountain views, kitchenettes, and working fireplaces.

7. Hotel Jerome

Hotel Jerome

A recent top-to-bottom renovation has restored Aspen’s historic hotel back to glory. Charming details throughout recall the Old West – old mining helmets in the lounge, original mailbox bins behind the front desk, leather belts lining the elevators, and in-room refrigerators hidden inside leather “safes.” As at all Auberge Resorts hotels, the restaurants are top-notch and here include casual J-Bar and the more formal Prospect.
