2. Pitkin Country Dry Goods

Pitkin Country Dry Goods

Opened in 1969, they’ve been stocking the best contemporary men’s and women’s fashions ever since – Vince, Current/Elliott, Joie, Rag & Bone – in an understated setting that’s refreshing in a town full of dramatic shops. Shoes and accessories are on offer as well as the obligatory outdoor gear. Their sales are legendary among locals.

3. Max Clothing Store

A minimalist boutique with a great women’s collection: Missoni, Isabel Marant, Erdem, Celine, Rick Owens, and Belstaff. They also sell jewelry, including Denver designer Rask Fine Jewelry. Owner Max Martinez has two other shops in Denver and Boulder and is known for getting pieces the big stores can’t.

4. Gorsuch

Gorsuch

Known for its catalog as well as its outposts around town, it’s easily Aspen’s most elegant shop for ski and aprés-ski fashions, furnished with chandeliers, wood paneling, and antique cherry chests. The men’s style is country gentleman: tweed and velvet blazers, fur-lined vests, leather camp furniture. In the women’s department, Tyrolean, haute-Heidi styles by Salzburg’s Susanne Spatt sit alongside antique housewares and silver.

5. Explore Booksellers

Explore Booksellers

A classic, small town bookshop located in an old house with a gabled roof, wood paneling, and a staircase that leads to an atrium filled with art books. Explore hosts an impressive series of author readings and book signings. Pyramid Bistro upstairs is a local favorite for healthy meals.
