The relaxation sets in on the approach to the lovely mountain setting at The Spa at Omni Grove Park Inn, and deepens through more than 20 water-based offerings at the 43,000 square-foot spa — among them mineral pools, waterfall pools bathed in thousands of stars and underwater music, steam rooms, and the Spa Grotto, a pool surrounded by rock walls, columns, and arches. A highlight on the expansive menu of facials, massages, and foot treatments is their Therapeutic Wellness Pod, a multisensory experience that includes infrared heat, a thermal sauna, gemstone and vibrational therapies, and aromatherapy.

Shoji Spa and Retreat offers a Japanese onsen-style bath experience in the mountains. Guests soak in private outdoor salt hydrotherapy tubs, then can add an invigorating Senjo Exfoliation salt scrub and finish in the Savasana Room, where special, heated tatami mats are embedded with gem stones for extra relaxation. Packages for one or two guests include hands-free massages, chair massages, and sake service while you soak.

What does it feel like to be surrounded by 30 tons of pink salt, sourced from locations as far away as the Himalayas and the Dead Sea? Very soothing and detoxifying. Find out at Asheville Salt Cave Downtown, in private or public sessions offered every day except Wednesday. Bring the kids for family sessions on Sunday morning. The other global experience on offer here is a Moroccan- and Turkish-inspired hammam.

For expert, highly individualized facial care, book time with Binah at Blomkraft Studio. There’s magic in her healing hands. Blazing Lotus Healing House does incredible massages in a variety of special formats, like Thai (stretching) and Ashiatsu (back walking), while the signature massage includes aromatherapy and hot stones.

Namaste in Nature leads experiences that combine yoga, meditation, and hiking with mountains, waterfalls, and sunsets. Regular offerings include riverside classes at Carrier Park and full moon yoga at Chimney Rock.

Zen is in the air. Everywhere. Here are more spa and wellness experiences in the Asheville area.
