Meet the TV Writer: Deborah Schoeneman

by Deborah Schoeneman

Hometown: Larchmont, New York.

Occupation: TV writer, Girls.

Favorite destinations: Montauk, Palm Springs, Big Sur, Malibu.

Dying to visit: Brazil.

Bizarre travel rituals: Harassing all friends who have been to the destination for lists of their favorite things.

In-flight relaxation regime: I fall asleep incredibly quickly no matter what I do!

Always in carry-on: Magazines.

Concierge or DIY? DIY.

See it all or take it easy? Both.

Drive or be driven? Both.

Travel hero: Julia Chaplin, my travel writer pal who coined the phrase "gypset" to describe the gypsy jetset, which is how she lives.

Weirdest thing seen on travels: A woman carrying a baby doll on the plane as if it were a baby.

Best hotel amenity: A big bathtub.

I dream about my meal at a ryokan near Tokyo.

Everywhere I go, I check out the beach.

When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by getting lost.

I always bring home an accessory.

If I never return to Cancun, it'll be too soon because spring break.

I travel for the fun.
