Meet the Physician: Dr. Frank Lipman

by Dr. Frank Lipman

Hometown: New York.

Occupation: Integrative physician.

Favorite destinations: South Africa, Brazil, Bali, GoldenEye Resort in Jamaica.

Dying to visit: Cartagena, Columbia, and India.

In-flight relaxation regime: My iPod with good headphones.

Always in carry-on: My acupuncture needles and probiotics.

Concierge or DIY? Definitely DIY.

See it all or take it easy? Depends where, but generally take it easy.

Drive or be driven? Drive.

Travel hero: My late mother. She was a fearless traveler.

Weirdest thing seen on travels: An enormous elephant eating a couple of trees right in front of our bungalow in a game park in South Africa.

Best hotel amenity: A good gym.

I dream about my meal at Grand on the Beach in Cape Town.

Everywhere I go, I check out the local music stores (now disappearing), beaches (I am a beach bum), and gyms (only sometimes).

When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by studying two or three maps and then walking everywhere when possible.

I always bring home music from the area.

I travel for the chill.
