Meet the Traveler: Savannah Jane Buffett

by Savannah Jane Buffett

Hometown: Miami, Florida.

Occupation: Lifestylist, travel host, DJ.

Favorite destinations: Treasure Beach, Jamaica; Hanalei Bay, Kauai; Hollywood; St.Barts; French West Indies; and Sag Harbor, New York.

Dying to visit: Any and everywhere is South East Asia, Brazil, and Mali.

Bizarre travel rituals: Honestly, I don't have any. Although I always have a backpack filled with the essentials and I never let it out of my sight. Oh, and I love to carry my own bags.

In-flight relaxation regime: Headphones on and iPad charged. That little gadget has changed the way I travel. It does everything!

Always in carry-on: Steven Alan blanket, iPad, Marley headphones, a good book, journal, and a copy of Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair.

Concierge or DIY? DIY and local intel, but I'm never opposed to a GOOD concierge.

See it all or take it easy? SEE IT ALL. Life is short (but always make time for a nap and a cocktail).

Drive or be driven? Drive! Not to mention, I'm a world-class navigator and co-pilot.

Travel hero: Anthony Bourdain and my parents.

Weirdest thing seen on travels: I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you! Zanzibar on New Year's Eve was pretty wild, and that's all I'm saying.

Best hotel amenity: A good minibar, soft sheets, and a fabulous pool.

I dream about my meal at Esca in NYC and Le Mas du Langoustier in Porquerolles, France.

Everywhere I go I check out the bars, find the good eats, and search out the local music scene!

When I arrive in a new place, I learn the lay of the land by talking to locals and doing some pre-game research. I'm a planner.

I always bring home a little something for my house and some sort of minor injury. I like to say it isn't a good vacation without a few bumps, bites, and bruises.

If I never return to the customs line at Miami International Airport, it'll be too soon because it sucks that hard. Too bad I live there and visit it often.

I travel for the adventure, the people, the music, and luckily my job.
